A huge day fronted the mighty Dees for the important clash with St Peters, they beat us by a kick in the first round and needed to beat us to stay in touch with the finals. Kicking to the non scoring end in the first quarter and through some clever work from Matty A we opened up by kicking 7 goals to 2 in the first quarter. St Peters actually went inside their 50 the same amount of times as us but our back 6 were solid as rocks and rebounded most of their attacks. In the second quarter the game tightened up and we kicked 4 goals to 2 and held a lead of 7 goals going into half time. In the 3rd quarter we really opened the game up, our back 6 were superb all quarter, our onballers dominated and the forward line through Willo finished off our hard work. At 3/4 time we lead 17 goals to 4 and we set ourselves a target of kicking 8 goals in the last to gather some much needed percentage. The last quarter was total dominance, St Peters very rarely went forward and we completely ran over the top of them and kicked 13.6 to 1 solitary goal in the last, a winning margin of a whopping 156 points. Best players on a superb dominant performance were Craig Taylor once again, not only doing the grunt work onball but his ability to take pack marks all over the ground and then rest forward and kick goals is sensational. Adrian Wilson dominated at CHF, his one on one marking ability was a pleasure to watch and his finishing off was great, Zac Millar continues his stellar season absolutely smashing them at stoppages and his ability to open the game up and bring other players into the game is a treat to watch week in week out. Big Matty A has dominated all ruckman since his long awaited return, we are so much a better side with him playing the way he is, young Blake Moore continues to develop into a seasoned footballer, Benny H was the pick of a tight knit back 6, Shauny Gatto once again produced a scintillating display of his silky skills, week in week out his ability to win the line ball and hit a target is a treat to watch. The players not mentioned here all deserve a mention and they all contributed all day. With Ricky Butler and Dan McGee to return to the side and with Macca and Jaron finding some form in the magoos, the pressure is on all players to stick to the task and continue this momentum that we've finally found. Yours in footy, Dusty.

A fine windy day greeted us for the long trip down to Flinders Park, Shauny won the toss and kicked with the breeze and after a slow start we kicked 4 goals to lead by 3 goals at the first break. In the second quarter the game turned into an arm wrestle with both sides managing one goal each, our back 6 stood tall for most of the quarter holding Flinders out. In the 3rd quarter we realised we had to kick away from them and we took total control of the game and actually hurt them on the scoreboard.  Our goal kicking accuracy has improved this year, our forwards were kept busy with the goal kicking being shared around. At the last break we held about a 7 goal lead and kicking into the stiff breeze we lost the quarter by one goal and won by 35 points. Best players in a good team effort were Zac Millar who had the ball on a string all over the ground, Benny Hancock was prominent all day, young Sammy Biggs continues to amaze with his uncanny goal sense kicking 6 goals, Craig Taylor had his usual consistent day out, Shauny Gatto also continues his fine form and Matty Paul played a very good game, first one back for about 8 weeks. We are only one game off 3rd spot now and need to continue this momentum, St Peters this week at home, in the first round they beat us by 7 points if we kill them off this week it virtually ends their finals aspirations and will go close to cementing our spot in the 5.  Yours in footy, Dusty

A windy horrible day presented itself for our important clash with Modbury, they had lost 4 games by less than a kick up until our game and it was always going to go down to the wire. We opened up with a strong breeze and due to poor kicking, we found ourselves a couple of goals down and kicking into the breeze in the 2nd. Modbury continued to kick straight and our errors and poor decision making saw us down by 30 odd points at the main break.
In the 3rd quarter we came out and took charge of the game, we straightened up in front of goal and outscored Modbury to be a couple of points in front and kicking into the breeze in the last. The boys dug deep and slowly got on top of our opposition, we got to 15 points in front with about 7 minutes to go and then Modbury kicked 2 quick goals to bring the margin back to 3 points. The boys held on grimly and we hung on to record one of our best wins for some time.
Best players in an even affair were Craig Taylor who dominated around the ground and capped an excellent game off with 4 goals, Matty A dominated the rucks and once again rucked tirelessly all day without a change, Zac Millar once again gained possessions at will and his in close work was sensational, Dan McGee tagged a gun player out of the game, Troy and Shaun Gatto played very good games, Benny Hancock was the pick of our defenders and Rick Keen dominated his wing. Flinders Park away this week, they only fell short on the weekend and will be tough, lets get some momentum in an attempt to consolidate a spot in the finals. Yours in footy, Dusty

A fine sunny day presented itself at Campbelltown for the clash with

Shaun Gatto in action against Rostrevor OC

Rostrevor, we were quietly confident of winning this game but little did we know what was about to happen.  From the first bounce it was quite evident that we were in for a struggle, Rostrevor constantly went inside their fifty and at quarter time we were a couple of goals down.  The rest of the game didn't change, we went inside our 50 as many times as Rostrevor but our forward line was outpointed for most of the day and the difference was that they had a big strong full forward who marked everything that came his way and kicked straight.
Our decision making and inability to hit targets cost us big time, we constantly turned the footy over and they ran hard all day and their skills were much better than ours. This loss now sees us in a logjam with a few teams fighting to stay in the top 5. We have 4 of the last 6 games at home and play all the sides below us on the ladder. Our main focus now is to win as many games as possible and stay in the top 5.  Best players on a day to forget were, Craig Taylor, Zac Millar, Shaun Gatto, Matty A, Brad Cato and Paul Jones.    A severely depleted Eastern Park fronted the unbeaten University at our home ground in front of our supporters and past players.  Injuries to Adrian Wilson, end of season injury to Chrissy Lewis, broken toe to Ado and the departure of Wally were a concern to coaching staff but we were quietly confident of causing an upset.  From the outset we dominated the first quarter, clever ruckwork from Matty A and the intensity of Taylz early set the platform for a remarkable day.  Alex Haughey gave us a target at CHF and Jaron, Flex and Shaun finished off our smart work from upfield and at 1/4 time we were up by 4 goals. In the 2nd quarter Uni used the breeze to their advantage and following a scuffle prior to half time we lead Uni by 5 points.
In the 3rd quarter we flexed our muscles and took total control of the game, our back 6 were superb and rebounded most of Unis endeavours forward. Our onballers and wingers provided our forwards with quality football and this showed on the scoreboard as we kicked 7 goals to 2 and lead by 6 goals at the final break.  Uni briefly challenged at the start of the last quarter but the mighty Demons steadied and kicked 8 goals to 3 in the last quarter, a huge effort into the non scoring end.  This was obviously our best win for the year and just showed a bit of grit and camaraderie, which has been lacking throughout the year.  Best players in a super team effort were Matty A who rucked tirelessly without a change all day, Craig Taylor was back to his best and his partner in Zac produced another dazzling display of tough football.  Alex Haughey dominated at CHF, Jaron's debut was something he wont forget in a hurry kicking 5 quality goals.  Flex continues his stellar season with 6 goals, the back 6 were superb all day with Allan Harvey the pick of the group. Troy Gatto played his best game for some time, Keeno, Blake, and Mozza all contributed significantly and Shaun Gatto continues to lead from the front with his silky skills.  Well done guys, we think we may have finally turned the corner and showed what we can achieve when everyone puts their hand up. Rostrevor next week at Campbelltown, and a good chance to take 3rd spot from them. Yours in footy, Dusty.

Congratulations to Zac Millar (pictured right) who this year was an Under 23 SAAFL State representative in the AAFC U23 Championship . Zac recently starred in the game against Western Australia.    The SAAFL league news recently reported in an article by Stephen O'Loughlin,  "Midfielder Zac Millar played a real hard, quality game and was rewarded with the umpires' award, the A.F. Statton Medal for best on ground."
Great effort Zac and from everybody at the Eastern Park Football Club, Well done.

We journeyed out to PHOS Camden fully aware of the importance of this game and with the return of Willo, Butts, Matty A and Macca we knew from the outset it was going to be a close tough game. PHOS came out in the first few minutes and dominated the game but struggled to capitalise on the scoreboard, then all of a sudden we clicked and kicked 6 goals to lead by 10 pts at the first break. In the second quarter PHOS once again jumped out and due to our inability to hit targets and constant turnovers the lead us by a kick at the main break.
The 3rd quarter was an arm wrestle, virtually goal for goal most of the quarter but we lead by 5 pts at the final break. Chrissy Lewis sustained an ugly collarbone break in the 3rd quarter and Willo had to come off shortly after with a hammy injury. The final quarter we were in front for the first few minutes, then PHOS through their giant forwards finished the game off to beat us by 26 points. Another huge game this weekend v the unbeaten University, being a past players day, its a great opportunity to bounce back and get the points in what's expected to be a huge game. Best players on the day were Zac, Demo, Willo, Shaun, Matty A and Brad Cato. Yours in footy Dusty

This was always going to be a danger game, in the context of where we both we situated on the ladder and with injuries to Matty A, Matty P, Adrian Wilson, unavailability of Ricky Butler and injuries to Taylz, Shaun and Wally. The first quarter was the normal slog with both teams trying to assert their authority, kicking 5 straight points before we scored a major.  Pembroke finished off a bit better early and at 1/4 time had a slender lead.  In the second quarter we settled down and through some good work from Taylz, Zac and Dan McGee we went forward with more purpose and Flex kicked 4 goals to take us to a couple of goals up at 1/2 time.
In the 3rd quarter we kicked away a bit but kicked poorly for goal again which kept Pembroke within touch at 3/4 time.  Both teams peppered the goals in the last quarter, it was our better finishing off in the last quarter that put the finishing touches to a good but sloppy win.  Best players on the day were Taylz who worked tirelessly at both ends of the ground, Brad Cato was solid down back all day, Dan McGee and Zac gave plenty of drive from the midfield, Flex kicked another 5 goals to lead the comp goal kicking, Harves was clever down back. With our injury toll and unavailability the bye has come at a great time, we need to refresh, regroup and gear up for hopefully a better second half of the season.  Yours in footy, Dusty

Well our topsy turvy season continued on Saturday, miserable conditions presented themselves and the emphasis was on setting the tone early and staying in front. The complete opposite happened, Walkerville blasted out of the blocks and kicked 8.4 to our poultry one goal in the first quarter. Highlights in the first quarter didnt exist, as a team it was an unacceptable start and following a blast at 1/4 time we had to play catch up footy for the rest of the arvo.  In the second quarter our work rate lifted and we actually began to play some decent footy, we outscored them in the 2nd and bridged the gap to approx 4 goals at the main break.
In the 3rd quarter we continued to dominate possession and kicked 3.5 into the breeze, we missed some absolute sitters in front of goals and we should have been in front at 3/4 time.  In the last quarter it was an arm wrestle, we kick a goal and they kick a goal, backwards and forwards.  We got within 7 points and looked like stealing the game but in the end we lost by 13 points. Best players on a day to forget were, Docker won his position clearly his runs from half back were a pleasure to watch, Shaun Gatto played a real captains game kicking 3 goals and setting up others, the biggest disappointment with the result was letting Shaun down on his 100th senior game.  Travis McKee rucked gallantly most of the day, Dan McGee continued his recent form, Kenny Mac was solid down back all day and Flex kicked 4 goals. Yours in footy, Dusty
